COMPANY HISTORY

Bob and Bonnie DIX founded DIX Metals in 1972, supplying raw materials—primarily aluminum—to customers in various machining industries. Following five years of steady growth, DIX Metals moved to an 18,000 square-foot building in Tustin, CA.

Working closely with the machining industry, it was discovered that DIX Metals could service a niche that went largely untapped. Many precision machining applications require raw material to be squared up prior to finish machining. Five or six decades ago, to prepare metal for finish machining, flycutting or facemilling were the only methods available. These methods are obsolete today.

Noting that CNC and conventional machines were not designed to efficiently remove stock in order to achieve precise dimensional, flat, square and parallel planes, DIX Metals found a new specialty.

As demand for DIX Metals’ method of squaring metal blanks has grown, the company has invested extensively in equipment that is specifically designed for this purpose. In March 1999, DIX Metals moved into a new 111,000 square-foot facility in Huntington Beach, CA.

Today, hundreds of customers from coast to coast rely on DIX Metals to produce precision, machine-ready blanks. These businesses save countless man hours and precious dollars by making DIX Metals their manufacturing partner.

In addition to offering 6061 aluminum plate and other materials, our services include precision material removal processes and cutting such as Blanchard grinding, double-disc grinding, duplex milling, waterjet cutting and others — all dedicated to the preparation of precision, made-to-order metal blanks.
